Sports app development

Whatever the sport, we develop the software around it. Products for the people playing and training, for the coaches and analysts working with the data, and for the organisations that teach and run the game.

The engineering under sports software development is more consistent than the range of products suggests. In a training product built around hardware it means a mobile app pairing with a sensor over Bluetooth and syncing what it records. In a coaching course it means video and structured material delivered to people in different places at different times. In an analytics platform it means a data layer plus the visualisations that make it legible, and in an esports app running on a third-party feed it means keeping the product current with the data that arrives. We build all of those parts, and cover product strategy, design, development, QA and launch.

Sports training apps for athletes and players

We develop training apps that assess where an athlete is and match them to the right work next, with exercise and video libraries, session tracking, personalised insights and subscription access. Oliver Kahn, the Bayern Munich and Germany goalkeeper and the only goalkeeper ever to win the World Cup Golden Ball, partnered with us on GoalPlay, a smart sports app for the young generation of goalkeepers, and the GoalPlay team partners with Fundación Real Madrid Clinics, the official football school of the royal team.

Connected sports hardware and wearables

We build the app side of connected sports hardware, covering Bluetooth pairing, capturing a session from the sensor, syncing it afterwards and holding up offline and across firmware versions. GoalPlay's smart gloves carry an AI-powered sensor that detects the trainee's movements. We also build connectors that bring in readings from third-party sports sensors. This is part of our IoT software development.

Sports performance analytics

We develop analytics platforms for the people who have to read the data. We built a sports-analytics platform that maps hundreds of performance statistics onto 40-plus visualisation types (scatter, heatmaps, radar, strike-zone breakdowns, 3D pitch paths), so analysts can read the numbers at a glance and a decision-maker can act on them. The data engineering behind that sits on our custom ML and predictive analytics page.

Sports data tools and dashboards

We build the tooling that sits around a sports analytics platform, so an administrator, a coach and a player can each work with the same data through their own view of it. That includes teams and players management with separate access for each role, data upload with an activity ledger, and configurable dashboards and chart canvases people arrange for themselves.

Sports education and coaching platforms

We design e-learning platforms for sports organisations, built around user experience and accessibility and planned for scalability and high traffic. Academia is the platform we designed for the Romanian Football Federation to deliver international educational programmes with FIFA and UEFA partners, teaching players, coaches and referees along with managers, specialists and parents. The wider capability sits on our e-learning software development page.

Esports apps

We develop esports products built on live competition data, integrating a third-party provider for game statistics, match results and player profiles alongside scoring, score comparison and livestream viewing. Gloat is a Canadian startup whose app lets people trade teams like a stock market, and we built the Android app. The money side of that work is on our fintech software development page.

From startups to scale-ups and industry giants—brands across various industries choose us as their trusted partners. They rely on us to transform their ideas into stunning products, deliver innovative solutions, and enhance existing projects to help them stand out in the market.

AI in sports

AI is its own practice at Wolfpack Digital, covering large language models and retrieval, custom machine learning and predictive analytics, and AI agents that take on work people would otherwise do by hand. A sports product can draw on any of it. In sport, GoalPlay's smart gloves carry an AI-powered sensor, and our work there is the Android app, the Bluetooth pairing and what the product does with what the sensor reports. We also offer a conversational assistant scoped to a single chart, answering questions about what is on screen.

Yes. GoalPlay's smart gloves pair over Bluetooth Low Energy, with the app reading the sensor during a session and syncing the data once it ends. Connected products typically need 30 to 50% more QA time than a comparable standard mobile app, because pairing, reconnection and sensor readings under changing conditions get checked by hand on real hardware rather than automated. Our Head of Quality Assurance set out what QA looks like when your app talks to hardware, drawing on connected products in healthcare, transport and industry.
We can build classroom video calls with chat and file sharing, for a whole group or one-to-one, so a course can run live. For the parts people work through alone, we build interactive quizzes with skill badges and progress bars, lessons a student can rewatch, and a resource list attached to each one. Which of those you need comes down to whether people learn together or on their own time.
Football most of all, including goalkeeper training on connected gloves and the Romanian Football Federation's education platform for players, coaches and referees. We have also built an esports exchange around live match data from titles including LoL, CS:GO, Dota 2 and Overwatch, and on the analytics side we have worked with sport-specific views such as strike zones and pitch paths. Those are examples. We offer the same work in any sport.
Yes. Oliver Kahn, the Bayern Munich and Germany goalkeeper, partnered with us on GoalPlay, and Academia, the Romanian Football Federation's platform, carries its international programmes with FIFA and UEFA partners. More widely, we have delivered 250+ products since 2015 and hold ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 certification, independently audited every year. The other sectors we build for are in industries.
Yes. You can find them in our work.
Yes. App maintenance and QA and app testing both run as ongoing services, and connected products need more of both, because anything touching the physical layer is tested by hand rather than automated.
Hardware and data volume move the number more than anything else. Reading one sensor over Bluetooth and building the training content around it is one size of project. Taking in hundreds of performance statistics and rendering them across dozens of chart types is another. Our pricing information page sets out how we structure engagements, and once we know which of those two your product sits closer to, we can get to a number quickly.

As humankind constantly evolves, we explore and invent new ways to make our lives easier. Even if we are talking about something simple like washing machines or more complex things like self-driving cars (we can see a pattern here), humans like to automate.

With web and mobile apps, there is a lot of planning and designing. When you have a complex system, new features can break the app’s UX, performance, or code.
